Have you ever seen a weird or wild car going down the road? Well here’s 40 more to look at. While looking at these, think about the thought process that went into designing as well as building these vehicles. Once you get done looking at them, we have 10 Steps to Creating Better Sketches of Cars down below to help you get started on your own design.

10 Steps to Creating Better Sketches of Cars

1. Copy various car drawings or pictures that you like and which inspire you. Make sure you are getting several various styles to help you learn how to pull different parts together.

2. Apply the various styles to your own designs. This probably won’t generate perfect results in the beginning; determination is required. You should not just be satisfied with the one you can do from the start; keep attempting to master all of the styles you like; they are going to all come in handy. Progressively blend the other styles with the one you’re most comfortable with.

3. Try and see your sketches and renderings as the same illustration at various stages. Possessing separate sketching styles and rendering styles might not help your workflow in the end. Each and every sketch needs to be seen as potentially working towards a rendering as well as a completed design. Should you sketch extremely distorted thumbnails you may think that you’re starting from scratch whenever you come to creating a more realistic rendering.

4. Steer away from defending criticism of your own work with the thinking “but that’s my style”. It’s possible to have a style which only works in your eyes. Seek to enhance your style over and above acceptable criticism however learn how to distinguish constructive criticism from plain negative comments, especially if you’re designing cars because it is so competitive.

5. Understand the disadvantages in your style and deal with all of them. If you primarily sketch sharp edged, aggressive designs you might not possess the methods needed to render smooth natural forms. Return to phases 1 and 2 if this describes the situation and copy some more work which achieves that which you are not presently able to do. You may find you have forgotten to blend in a few of the styles you initially selected.

6. Look to see if the visual impact of your flatwork is reliant upon one component. In case your render doesn’t jump off the page except if it is multicolored or filled with highlights as well as lighting effects, try and produce the same impact in various other ways for example composition or viewpoint. Then whenever you add effects later on they will be a lot more effective. Perhaps your car sketches simply appear funky due to large wheels and zero ground clearance; sketch forms without having wheels; spaceships, boats; something which will fill in the blanks.

7. Observe reality and put it to use in your work. Regardless how stylized your technique is, the goal is always to depict a real life product therefore be mindful of how real surfaces appear and also imagine the way you might render them. These types of thoughts will remain with you when you’re working and definitely will translate into your style. It’s also wise to have the ability to communicate to non-designers so make sure you develop that ability. You may also observe something striking on a real car that many people do not include in their renderings; if you’re able to determine a way to do this your work will certainly stand out.

8. Appreciate the worthiness of subtlety. Genuinely exceptional images will present an interesting depth of accuracy, subtlety and detail which you may not necessarily appreciate at first glance.

9. Introduce facets of artwork that you like from outside design. When you succeed in creating a convincing rendering which has an unusual feel it’s going to appear much more impressive and give an atmosphere of greater originality to your design.

10. Keep practicing frequently, every single day if you’re able to and as soon as you feel some inspiration. When you work for fun instead of only on defined briefs you’ll improve swiftly. Your goal should be to create something really good every few sketches so don’t worry if every sketch is not a work of art since all of them help you improve.

Staying open to improving your style will surely enhance your progress. Take it easy and work with confidence understanding that if something isn’t really working you won’t need to show it to anyone and that you may attempt many times to get it right. In the event that you get lost and are unsatisfied with everything you have been doing go back to copying professional work until eventually it begins to make sense once again. When you are creating work comfortably in a certain way begin to absorb styles which you like from others’ work and you will discover your own designs will end up more advanced as well as your style.

Do you remember the Atari?  The Atari is where it all began.  Looking back the graphics are so cheesy compared to the fabulous graphics that are available on game systems today.  As a child of the 80’s I can say that the graphics didn’t matter.  My friends and I spent hours playing Space Invaders and Pac Man.  If you are feeling nostalgic after reading the list below you can find the old games online.

  1. Space Invaders A classic shooter where rows of aliens marched across the screen getting ever closer to taking over your base unless you shot them out of the sky.
  2. Asteroids A triangle meant to represent a fighter ship rotated or moved across the screen shooting asteroid outlines.  The larger the asteroid started out the more times you had to shoot it.  If you were lucky you could hyperspace out and reappear before being smashed by an oncoming asteroid.
  3. Kaboom The mad bomber dropped bombs and the player had to catch them with various sizes of buckets.
  4. Pittfall Pitfall Henry goes on a trip through the jungle mazes to find 32 treasures.
  5. Pacman Pacman is directed through a maze trying to eat all of the dots and avoiding being killed by any of the four ghosts.  Once all of the dots are consumed on the level the player advances to the next level.
  6. Donkey Kong The object of the game is to climb ladders and jump barrels to get to the top platform and rescue the damsel in distress.
  7. Adventure This game marked a new type of game where the player explored multiple screen backdrops to find items and collect them to make your way through the game to find the chalice and take it back to the castle.
  8. Missile Command The player is a regional commander defending six cities against enemy missiles.
  9. Megamania, this game was another shooting game, but this time you are shooting weird things like hamburgers and other peculiar items.
  10. Berzerk, Don’t touch the electrified walls in this fast paced game or you will blow up.  Shoot the armed robots and get away from your enemy, Evil Otto.

If you’re a fan of video games, you may have thought about video game design as a career. What may surprise you is that this career requires a set of skills far beyond a love of games and a knack for using computers and video gaming systems.

Developing video games is a cost and time intensive process that draws on a variety of skills and talents that may surprise you. In fact, most developers with successful games under their belts are artistic and have good writing skills as well as a solid background in computer programming and design. If you are considering a career in video game design, consider the many aspects of game design and think about which area you would excel at:

Game Concept Design

This is an early phase of the process and is done primarily by writers and game concept specialists. These are the individuals who create the parameters for the game such as the overall goal or objective, what type of skills will be used in the game, etc. If you’ve ever thought you had an awesome game idea or felt that you could have improved on a game you’ve played, you might want to go into game concept design.

Game play and rules also fall under the concept area. No video game can be played without particular guidelines and rules. These can be quite complex; designers who are good at understanding and applying a variety of regulations as well as developing new ones are in high demand. Creativity is also needed so that rules can be both interesting and rational within the parameters of the game.

Layout and 3D Modeling

If you enjoy photo manipulation, Computer Aided Drafting and Design and artwork, you may like working on layout and design. Some companies hire individuals strictly to do backgrounds or characters for games in order to give a game a particular style or ensure realism. This aspect of video game design is what can give a stellar game a distinctive look and feel that inspires a great fan following.

Object placement is a part of layout that is primarily associated with the proper placement of significant objects that may have special powers, provide a key to the next level or a game or reveal a key secret to advancement. Some larger companies have individuals who focus on this sub-category of game layout.

Scripting and Plot Development

The dialogue and actions of characters in complex video games can make or break the success of the game. Scripting is the part of video game design that develops the actual dialogue for characters and keeps the action moving forward. Awkward or unrealistic scripting can be a death sentence, so scripters are central to the design of the game. This is similar to writing the script for a movie or play, so writing skills and an understanding of dialogue and character are essential.

Proper plotting moves the story forward and, like scripting, relies heavily on understanding human nature, motives and character. A plot in a video game may be incidental to the action. However, some games are becoming increasingly plot driven, but it must make sense and follow a recognizable and interesting thread that will keep gamers interested.

New Degrees Combine Skills

Because video game design has taken off in recent years and is now a billion dollar industry, the need for good designers is increasing. In the past, a game design team might have included writers with liberal arts degrees, artists and computer programmers who had to pull it all together. Today there are many colleges and universities that offer specialized video game design degrees. These degrees are valuable because they cover the many skill sets needed for success in the business. These skills include scripting, 3D art, story development, content development and animation by combining elements of several different disciplines into one comprehensive degree focusing on the needs of the video game design industry.

Chances are good that if you read a substantial amount of fantasy novels you’ve no doubt encountered people who think they’re a huge waste of time. They’ve been accused of everything from being just for kids to advocating dangerous anti-religious agendas. The reality is that fantasy doesn’t always get the respect it deserves, as the best fantasy novels have characters, plots and themes that are just as worthy of respect as any other genre. Aside from this, there are many other reasons to read fantasy novels, no matter how much guff you get from others who just don’t understand what they’re missing. Consider these:

• Fantasy isn’t just an escape. Fantasy isn’t any more of an escape than any other kind of literature and those that view it as such aren’t giving it credit for the imagination, creativity and uniqueness it has to offer.
• Fantasy speaks to something deeper. Much of fantasy writing harkens back to myths that address some of the basic conflicts in human life. Even when non-human characters are used, conflicts between good and evil and right and wrong give insight into what it means to be human.
• Fantasy is more than fluff. Just because it incorporates elements of magic, dragons and mythic races doesn’t mean that fantasy is just fluff without substance. Often it asks readers to address universal truths, regardless of the time period, location or characters it chooses.
• Fantasy can be intimately spiritual. Whether it’s Harry Potter or something more serious, many critics of fantasy accuse it of going against religion and spirituality. Yet fantasy literature deals with some of the same fundamental issues as religion and asks readers to think deeply about morality, faith, values and their relationship with the universe.

No matter why you choose to read fantasy, it’s clear that fantasy novels offer us something just as valuable as any other type of literature, and the best fantasy novels deserve the same respect. As fantasy and science fiction have become ever more popular in movies and television, perhaps more of these great works will gain the admiration they deserve.
